KUALA LUMPUR, April 11 – Sapura Energy Bhd’s backup, Sapura Exploration and Production (Sarawak) Inc. (Sapura E and P) will create Gorek, Larak and Bakong gas fields offshore Sarawak alongside its partner, PetronasCarigaliSdn. Bhd. and, Sarawak Shell Bhd.
Sapura Energy President and Chief Executive Officer Tan Sri Shahril Shamsuddin said the final investment decision group (FID) to develop the principal period of the SK408 Production Sharing Contract in the wake of getting an endorsement from Petroleum Nasional Bhd. (Petronas).
“The improvement of the SK408 gas field will strengthen Sapura Energy’s position in Malaysia as a major gaseous petrol provider and provider to one of the worlds biggest liquefied natural gas (LNG) production facilities, the Petronas MLNG complex in Bintulu,” he said in an announcement here today.
Shahril said the field under the SK408 gas field improvement project was a piece of the findings made by Sapura E and P in the 2014 drilling campaign.
“This field will be produced into three separate barge platforms associated with existing handling offices and additionally to the MLNG complex,” he clarified.
He said the SK408 gas field would be the second major upstream gas advancement project for Sapura E and P after the fruitful improvement and production of the SK310 B15 gas field.
“This FID is an essential achievement when Sapura Energy keeps on developing using its value in the gas field, which further outlines the long-term revenue generation plan.
“With the expansion of new investigation regions in Mexico and New Zealand as of late, the group has effectively diversified segments as far as geology with a reasonable portfolio in all periods of investigation, improvement, and production,” he said.
Sapura E and P is the advancement and production administrator in Larak and Bakong fields, while Sarawak Shell is the administrator of the Gorz Square.
